Christmas in Ashley Dec 3 6:00 - 9:00 pm
We will be a stop for Christmas in Ashley again this year on  December 3rd.  Please stop in for a visit.

November is Aviation History month.  Have you traveled to the Dayton area?  The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park includes the Orville and Wilbur Wright Museum and at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base is the National Museum of USAF.  Both museums are free!
November is also Native American Heritage Month.  We might try visiting the Hocking Hills State Park.  There are also many mounds built by natives before Europeans came to the Americas.  My favorite is the Serpent Mound.  If you haven’t gone — I recommend it.
An Ohio fact — Ohio truly is  a swing state.  Ohio has picked the winner in presidential elections more frequently than any other state with a 93% record of choosing the winner.

Have you faced your fears at the Haunted Hoorah?  Other reportedly haunted places in Delaware county are the Perkins Observatory and the Strand Theater and the Morrow County Home in Mt. Gilead.

Geo-Caching and Letterboxing adventures frequently have stops in cemeteries.  And the rotating ball on the tombstone at Marion Cemetery could be a fun stop this October.

An Ohio fact — Did you know that the lead boat of nuclear-powered fleet ballistic missile submarines was named the USS Ohio and Ohio class is the designation for all submarines of that type?.

We received a donation of about 150 audio books from Delaware County Library!  So we have busy rearranging some paperbacks to make some more room for a LOT more audio books! Hurrah!!

Megan & I helped judge the Biography Fair at the Middle School — try reading a biography this month!

September 2016

In August my family took a stay-cation and took day trips around Ohio.  There is so much to see and do here.  We went to Cedar Point.  I used to go every summer (usually more than once) because I lived so close.  I forgot how much I enjoy riding the rides.
I am looking forward to the All Horse Parade in Delaware September 11th.  If you have never gone, you should try it.  I highly recommend it — no motorized vehicles are allowed.
Looking at some other things to do — I would love to visit the glassware museum in Tiffin.  Tiffin and Fostoria as well as Toledo have been important in glass manufacturing.  Check it out sometime.
And another Ohio plus —According to Insure.com, Ohio residents have the least expensive car insurance in the country—$926 per year.

August 2016

The students that participated in our summer reading program read more than 1,000 hours! Wow!! Great job everybody!

August used to be one of the laziest months of the year.  But with the school year starting so early now, trying to fit some vacation time into this month can be stressful rather than relaxing!
After a hectic and fun summer reading program, our library takes a break from programs for a bit.  But we hope to see you as we resume programs next month.
The COOL (Consortium of Ohio Libraries) that Wornstaff is a member of has launched an app for mobile devices.  Now you can take your library with you.  See a great book at the book store and want to know if you library has it?  This app is an easy way to check.
Also, we have added some new magazine subscriptions.  We hope that you will find something that you enjoy.
By the way, we are interested in starting to circulate board games, so if you have one you would like to donate or a suggestion of one you would like us to have — let us know!
