Our new library lady.  She works part time at Selover library in Chesterville and has started

Summer Reading Goal is over 1500 hours!!

The Ohio Library Council recently reported on House Bill 483 with the following recommendations that effect the Public Library Fund.

The final report includes a total of over $400 million in tax reductions in the following three primary areas:  1) temporary increase in the small business tax deduction from 50% to 75%. This will reduce the PLF an additional $4.8 Million in fiscal year (FY) 15.

2) An acceleration of the personal income tax cuts (from HB 59 enacted last summer). This will reduce the PLF an additional $1.66 Million in FY 15. 3)  An increase in personal income tax exemption amounts. This will reduce the PLF an additional $1.22
Million in FY 15.

These proposed tax reductions will reduce the PLF by an estimated $7.68 million in FY 15. This means the money we receive from the state will be drastically cut.  The village of Ashley and Oxford township levy that was passed will be coming up for renewal next year and it is vital for us to continue library services to the community.

We hope that you won’t be too inconvenienced by the disruption.  We sincerely hope that in the end that library will be a better place to serve you.

Library Love Isn't Nerdy
Ohio gets mocked for many things. This includes having a population of nerds because Ohioans make more library visits per capita than any other state.
But libraries are cool, and Ohio's are particularly cool. They're so cool they even have a Consortium of Ohio Libraries (COOL). Branches in the state are some of the highest ranking in the country and they often get national awards and other recognition for their services and innovation.
Taken from the MOVOTO.com website: 10 Things only People From Ohio Understand

“Free libraries maintained by the people are cradles of democracy, and their spread can never fail to extend and strengthen the democratic idea, the equality of the citizen and the royalty of man. They are emphatically fruits of the true American ideal.”
-Andrew Carnegie at the 1903 dedication of the Carnegie  Library in Washington, D.C.
