September 2013

September 6th is Read a Book Day . Take time out of your busy life, and relax with a good book. Cozy up on a chair, indoors or out. It doesn't matter where you read that book, as long as you can do so in a comfortable manner. If you doze off along the way, we won't tell anyone.
Reading is a great lifetime hobby. It offers so many positive attributes. It's relaxing and therapeutic. It's educational. Its entertaining. And, a whole lot of other good things, too.
If you have young children, or elderly people in your home, take the time to read a book to them today. It is a wonderful time to bond with them and it creates pleasant, lasting memories.  From: holidayinsights.com
The Bookmark society will be meeting September 26th at 6:30.  They will be discussing The Bastard  by  John Jakes.

Do you have a collection that you would like others to see and enjoy?
We would really like to see something new in our display case.  Maybe we could show off your special Halloween or Christmas decorations.  Just let us know!

Passions, Skills & Community
We are interested in starting some new programming with the help from the Ashley community.  Have something you wish to learn about? Or would you like to share? Can you sew a hem or button? How about teaching this skill to young children?  Do you enjoy math or science, better yet understand it!  Could you volunteer to tutor a subject once a week or once a month?

Astronomy aficionado?  Share your knowledge one evening this fall.  Art a passion? How about working on a library mural or installation. 4H or Scouts need some community service how about running a workshop?   If interested in volunteering or have an idea for a workshop, please contact Susan Bussard wornstaff@oplin.org.

My favourite poem is the one that starts 'Thirty days hath September' because it actually tells you something.                               Groucho Marx
