We are asking that you pre-register (so we have a good idea of how many of some materials we will need.)   Linda Thomas will be sharing her skills.  I have received some FABULOUS Christmas cards from her!  It should be a great workshop!  Last month’s cards were so much fun to make.

Upcoming Levy

The Wornstaff Library receives about $121,000 from the State of Ohio Public Library fund. This funding dropped from $153,000 in 2008 to a low of $118,000 in 2010.  At that time, we asked for a levy from the village and Oxford township to help us off-set the decrease in state funding.  Five years have passed and our levy is up for renewal.  The levy on the ballot on May 5th is a straight renewal and would not add any additional taxes.

The Village of Ashley and Oxford Township are not in the Delaware County Library District, thus these entities do not pay taxes to the Delaware County Library. The Village of Ashley and Oxford Township are in the Wornstaff Memorial Public Library District. Any library levies approved by these two entities will have levy proceeds that go to the Wornstaff Memorial Public Library.

In addition to Children’s story time, movie nights, and summer reading programs, there is a lot going on at the Wornstaff Library. We have parking problems on Monday evenings and Friday afternoons.  Boy scouts & girl scouts and 4-H groups meet here often.  We seem to be busier than ever, but that’s a good problem to have!

Welcome Teri!
Our new library lady.  She works part time at Selover library in Chesterville and has started

Summer Reading Goal is over 1500 hours!!

The Ohio Library Council recently reported on House Bill 483 with the following recommendations that effect the Public Library Fund.

The final report includes a total of over $400 million in tax reductions in the following three primary areas:  1) temporary increase in the small business tax deduction from 50% to 75%. This will reduce the PLF an additional $4.8 Million in fiscal year (FY) 15.

2) An acceleration of the personal income tax cuts (from HB 59 enacted last summer). This will reduce the PLF an additional $1.66 Million in FY 15. 3)  An increase in personal income tax exemption amounts. This will reduce the PLF an additional $1.22
Million in FY 15.

These proposed tax reductions will reduce the PLF by an estimated $7.68 million in FY 15. This means the money we receive from the state will be drastically cut.  The village of Ashley and Oxford township levy that was passed will be coming up for renewal next year and it is vital for us to continue library services to the community.
